WhistlePig Double Malt Rye is our oldest Rye, patiently mellowed for 18 years. Before industrial distillation, America’s original farmers would malt a small portion of their grain to start fermentation, the essential step that turns water and rye into glorious whiskey. As a nod to the farmers, Double Malt Rye is crafted from a mash bill of Rye, Malted Rye, and Malted Barley. History aside, these grains unite in a show-stopping Rye Whiskey that stretches far and wide across the flavor spectrum. Its base of 79% Rye delivers bold, peppery spice, while 15% Malted Rye adds soft, floral, and earthy character. A final 6% of malted barley brings rich, sweet, toasted notes. At once bold, complex, delicate, and elegant, WhistlePig 18 is the whiskey that your most memorable toasts require, and a gem on any bar. Each annual edition of our Double Malt Rye is crowned with a bespoke glass topper, handmade in Vermont. Certified Kosher.

The foundation of BCS Gray Label Seagrass began with two groups of 16-year-old 100% Canadian Rye barrels - one with bright citrus and crisp green apple notes and the other with earthy spearmint notes. A portion of the first group was finished in Apricot Brandy casks, a portion of the second group was finished in Martinique Rum barrels, and a blend of the first and second groups was finished in Malmsey Madeira barrels. When each set of secondary maturation flavors peaked, those casks were pulled and slowly married into the final blend.

At 92 proof and one of Whistlepig's oldest whiskeys, this is the very first Whistlepig product finished in Vermont Estate Oak harvested from their farm. Vermont oak has more rings than the standard oak used in whiskey barrels, and each ring is an opportunity to impart more flavor and depth in the whiskey. Perfected over 15 years with a 97 point score from Wine Enthusiast. 

The nose features deep and rich aromas dominated by caramel, vanilla, and oak with hints of allspice and burnt orange. Warm and rich on the palate, slightly creamy, with loads of butterscotch and baking spice with leather and a hint of tobacco. Ultra long and rich finish. Warm and inviting. 

Allowing our barrels to rest an additional long, hot summer gives this exquisite, richly profiled rye an exceptional flavor profile. Utilizing superior barrels of American Rye and whiskey stocks from our Bardstown warehouse’s vintage collection, our Harvest Rye Whiskey is at least five (5) summers old and bottled at cask strength, varying from 114-119 proof.

Renowned for rye, America’s first whiskey, since our founding in 1753, we take production of every barrel of Michter’s Rye very seriously. Our US*1 Rye is made from select American rye grain that is sheared to enable the saturation of more flavor during fermentation. It is then aged in a heated warehouse. This premium rye has hints of light spice, black pepper, marmalade and plum, spicy grain and light caramel.

WhistlePig “100/100” is a 100 proof, 100 percent rye whiskey, aged for at least ten years in new American oak barrels. It was released in the summer of 2010 to great critical acclaim, receiving numerous distinctions such as the "highest ever" designation from Wine Enthusiast Magazine and "highest recommendation" from the Spirits Journal.

J.W. Rutledge Cream of Kentucky Bottled in Bond Kentucky Straight Rye is distilled by Long Island Spirits on the North Fork of Long Island, New York. Using the finest locally grown field corn, winter rye, and malted barley; combined with sweet mash fermentation, traditional pot distillation, and lengthy aging by the bluffs of the Long Island Sound, our High Rye Maritime Straight Bourbon Whiskey delivers a truly unique and finely balanced tasting experience. Aged in New American Charred Oak Casks for not less than 4 years.

Blue Run Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon is distilled from a mash bill of 65% yellow corn, 30% rye, and 5% malted barley. Only 100 selected barrels went into this bottling, each toasted to a #4 alligator char and aged in Frankfort and Bardstown, KY.

Blue Run High Rye Bourbon is 111 proof.

Aged by open and unforgiving seas for a complex yet balanced finish you can’t find anywhere else. Aged in both new char and toasted barrels before being placed on ships to travel the sea, giving way to balanced notes of toffee and marshmallow with accents of leather and tobacco.

Uncle Nearest 1884 has a very special and unique personal touch of Nathan "Nearest" Green's family, the first African-American master distiller on record in the United States.

Lemon zest and citrus strike the nose first but are followed up by the tell-tale rye black pepper burst.  Loads of caramel, canned peaches, and cloves follow quickly.

Elijah Craig Rye originates from Heaven Hill’s 51% rye mash bill, which also includes Pikesville Rye and Rittenhouse Rye brands. This mash bill is often referred to as a “barely legal rye” mash bill as it contains the bare minimum 51% rye required by law. Barely legal ryes are produced by numerous distilleries, and often contain a high percentage of corn as the secondary grain. In this case, the combination of 51% rye and 35% corn is arguably not far off from a bourbon that could legally contain 51% corn and 35% rye, or some higher proportion of rye if malted barley was reduced.

As a result of its relatively low rye, high corn content, the flavor profile of Elijah Craig Rye is quite similar to what might be expected from a bourbon (though, notably, it lacks the oak forwardness of its bourbon counterpart, Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon). If poured blind, I think few would be able to confidently identify it as Rye versus bourbon. But this is merely an observation, and surely the end results in Heaven Hill are going for. Utilizing their existing rye mash bill, they were able to simply change up the target flavor profile from some of their existing brands. And while Elijah Craig Rye will certainly be a crowd-pleaser, it offers only a slight variation from other ryes in the marketplace.
